Bracken Booking Photos Are Separate
A mugshot is a booking or official inmate photograph created or maintained in connection with custody. It remains a distinct record from the release entry. The image may establish that an agency associated a photograph with a particular booking, but it cannot establish why custody ended or where the person went.
Bracken is a closed-jail county. Adults connected to Bracken cases are generally housed at Mason County Detention Center, while the Bracken Sheriff, another arresting agency, the Bracken court, and Kentucky DOC may each hold different records. Ask the agency that created or maintains the desired image.
Find Bracken Release Mugshots
No official Bracken or Mason released-photo archive was verified. The Mason current JailTracker detail may show a booking photograph when populated, but the official site does not publish a stated retention period or a stable released-person screen. A person who has left the live roster may no longer be available through that interface.

Always record which booking or state record the image came from. A reused or old image can persist after the custody facts have changed.
No Bracken Mugshot App Exists
The official Bracken Sheriff site has no jail roster, recent-release feed, photo gallery, or verified mobile app. Mason’s official route is its current JailTracker roster. No official Mason mobile app or recent-release photo product was found either.
This negative finding matters. Do not invent an app-only feature or imply that Bracken maintains a jail photo feed. A Mason roster photo, when present, relates to a current booking interface. It does not create an official Bracken release mugshot archive.
The Bracken Sheriff site can identify the law-enforcement office, while the Mason JailTracker is the current-custody starting point. If the person is absent, request the photo and custody record directly.
Request Bracken Booking Photos
Send the request to the record owner. Ask Mason County Detention Center for a photo associated with its booking. Ask the Bracken Sheriff only for an image that office created or maintains. The Sheriff FAQ explains that report copies come from the agency whose officer responded, which reinforces the same ownership rule.
- Identify the full name and date of birth, plus booking or DOC number if known.
- Give approximate arrest and booking dates and the Bracken case number.
- Request the booking photograph as a separately identified record.
- Request the booking sheet and release or removal entry separately.
- Ask for electronic delivery and the fee schedule.
Kentucky’s Open Records Act is KRS 61.870 through 61.884. KRS 61.880 generally gives an agency five business days to respond, subject to a proper explanation and earliest availability when production takes longer. KRS 61.874 allows reasonable reproduction charges for noncommercial requests.
No Mason detention-specific form, booking-photo fee, or photo policy was found. Do not borrow a state-agency rate and present it as Mason’s rule. Ask Mason for its actual fee and any legal basis for withholding all or part of the record.
Use Kentucky Offender Photos
The official Kentucky Offender Online Lookup is a separate photo channel for people within the state corrections system. KOOL says most, but not all, offender records include photographs. Its camera icon opens the full record and photo. Institutional photographs are updated at least annually or after a significant change under the official FAQ.
KOOL is not Mason’s booking archive. A short-term local detainee who never entered state custody may have no KOOL record. Conversely, a state offender connected to Bracken may be confined far outside the county. Search statewide by name and identifier, then compare the DOC or PID number and conviction details.
A KOOL photo also does not prove present release. Read Current Location and status. A P&P office generally indicates community supervision; an institution or county jail indicates custody. Neither a photograph nor a P&P listing proves final discharge.
Official News May Locate Custody
Official Kentucky State Police and local agency news releases sometimes publish an arrest photo or identify where a person was lodged. These releases are snapshots of what the agency reported at publication. They are not live custody records and do not establish later release.
A Bracken investigation documented by Kentucky State Police illustrates why location matters. Two people were reported lodged at Mason, while another was held in Adams County, Ohio pending extradition. The shared Bracken investigation did not put every person in the same custodian’s hands.
Use the news item to identify a likely booking agency or facility. Then contact that custodian and check the court case. Arrest county alone does not determine where the booking photo or release record is held.
Commercial Photos Are Only Leads
Commercial Mason booking archives may filter by Bracken Sheriff, Augusta Police, or Bracken Circuit Court and preserve a photo after a current roster changes. Those pages are not authoritative for custody, release time, destination, or legal disposition. They should not be republished or treated as official proof.
No commercial gallery is endorsed here. Do not pay a publisher merely because it claims a photo is current or removable. First identify the official record, verify the case and custody timeline, and obtain any sealing or expungement order that may affect public access.
An old photo can remain online after dismissal, transfer, release, or expungement activity. Its continued display says nothing reliable about the current status.
Kentucky Limits Paid Mugshot Removal
KRS 61.8746 prohibits certain commercial publication or use of agency-sourced booking or official inmate photographs when removal is conditioned on payment or other consideration. The law provides a civil remedy and escalating damages. It is not a universal erasure statute.
Agency disclosure can still be limited by applicable exemptions, including an active investigation, juvenile confidentiality, sealing or expungement, privacy, or security concerns. If an official request is denied, ask the custodian for the written statutory basis. That response identifies the rule actually applied.
Expungement or sealing can change public visibility, but it does not guarantee that every prior third-party copy disappears at the same time. Obtain the signed order and ask each official custodian how it has been implemented. Do not assume a court order automatically updates every dynamic vendor system.
Verify Bracken Photo Identity
Match a photo to the correct booking with a booking number, DOC or PID number, date of birth, arrest date, and case number. Similar names, aliases, suffixes, and transposed birth dates can create a false match. An image alone is weak identity evidence.
Next separate the events. The booking sheet describes intake. The photograph documents appearance associated with that record. The Bracken court file explains the legal case. Mason’s release or removal entry records the end of Mason custody and any receiving authority. KOOL covers a state sentence or supervision.
If the sources cannot be reconciled, state that identity or release is not confirmed. Do not choose a result because the photograph looks similar.
Bracken Photo Release Boundaries
A current Mason photo can coexist with an old Bracken court event. A KOOL photo can coexist with release from Mason because the person transferred into state custody. An official news image can remain online long after the reported arrest. Each source has its own time and purpose.
For a complete answer, request the photo as one item and the release record as another. Kentucky jail standards require the release/removal record to show time, date, purpose, legal authority, and the person or authority receiving custody. That record, not the image, answers whether Mason custody ended through community release or transfer.
When the question is simply where a photo came from, cite the creating agency and booking. When the question is whether the person was released, cite the responsible custody record.
